If you aren't familiar with Salehoo, it is one of the most popular wholesale directory sites online. It targets sellers looking to sell on ebay and similar auction sites. Given the site's past success on Clickbank, I decided it was worth looking into and writing a review.
Salehoo is a membership site that offers lifetime access (including all updates) for a one-time fee of $67. One of the main reasons that people are interested in the Salehoo Directory is that it is very difficult and time consuming to find quality wholesalers and dropshippers through online searches. Salehoo offers these online merchants access to a huge list (well over 5,000) of companies that fit the bill.
After signing up for Salehoo, I spent some time looking through the directory to see which products were available and whether they were really selling at "wholesale" prices. I was quickly able to find companies that sold just about every type of product, but most did not have impressive pricing. The majority of the products I initially came across were priced at or above what you can already buy the products for on ebay. I could immediately tell that it would be nearly impossible to make any money selling these products on ebay given the competition already in place.
It took a considerable amount of time and research to find some products that I thought could potentially be profitable on ebay. The products that seemed like they could work were primarily more obscure products and accessories for mainstream products. It is nearly impossible to sell a Playstation 3 or its games and make any money, but you can sometimes turn a profit on the accessories for the system such as controllers.
One very nice feature that Salehoo offers is its user forum. There are many other internet merchants on there that are more than willing to answer questions for you and help you get started online. The site also has excellent customer support. I never had to wait more than 24 hours to receive a response to any question I had. The web site does not, however, offer much else in the way of research or learning material. There are a few bonus ebooks that you get when signing up, but I didn't find those to be very helpful.
I think that Salehoo is a good value...for what it is. The main problem that I have with the product is that it is very difficult to make money dropshipping on ebay today. The competition is so tough and many of these competitors are buying products from the same suppliers that are listed in the directory. I don't really recommend the dropshipping route for most beginners because it is very difficult to build in any profit margins. That said, if you are looking to have your own retail web store, the companies listed on Salehoo could work for you. Just don't buy into the hype that you can sign up for Salehoo and be making millions on ebay in no time at all. Being an online retailer is very hard work and takes a lot of research. Salehoo can help you in your research, but it won't do all the work for you.
